NBC Universal Is Going Bankrupt

Posted on December 21st, 2007 in Entertainment, News, Review, Show, TV by Steve McGrath

Today, I learned that NBC Universal is canceling The 4400 and the Dead Zone( airing on the USA network). Wow! Both quality shows that could at least deserved one last season or mini-season to wrap things up for fans.

Of course, they will show us shows with lower quality because they cost less to produce. That I understand the business side but by canceling many shows(new or old), they risk losing the fans thus making less money by airing more crappy shows.

Here is what will happen if they continue this trend without regard to fans:

Look! Another new show on NBC Universal. Never mind, as soon I’m hooked, NBC Universal will cancel it. I won’t waist my time watching it that station anymore.

When scripted shows will become too rare on that network , where do you think viewers will go? They will go to HBO or Showtimes for real and intelligent shows for example.

Yes, NBC Universal is going bankrupt on 3 fronts: losing money, fans and quality content.

Is NBC Universal losing so much money in choosing HD-DVD(losing side) that they need to cut in all divisions to make GE(80% owner) happy. Maybe they should keep some lights of hope on some production studios.

Don’t get me wrong, they still have a few good shows(Heroes, Friday Night Lights) on but for how long?

    Movie: 2012 The Odyssey

Posted on December 21st, 2007 in 2012, Movie by Steve McGrath

This is movie that I just found: 2012 The Odyssey

It’s not a movie with action or a story line but it’s a documentary. It won’t be the last of this kind. ;)

    2012 The Odyssey

    P.S.
In exactly 4 years, it will be the Mayan Prophecy of December 21, 2012. See the new poll on the side bar

The End Of The Journeyman: Not Yet!

Posted on December 20th, 2007 in News, Show, TV by Steve McGrath

Last night was the last episode of Journeyman. It answered a few questions but also asked some more.  It is a great show and deserve to be kept on television. Why not use the current writer’s strike and show it at 8 or 9 pm. This way, you will have new viewers.

Do we need Dan to go back and change the mind of NBC?

You can signed the petition like I did to save it.

Mini-Review: I Am Legend But Not At The Theater

Posted on December 14th, 2007 in Entertainment, Movie, Review by Steve McGrath

It’s the second Friday in a row that it is snowing a little(few flakes). At least this time, the mini-van was not there to block me from opening my car door like last time. It was more of a windshield liquid day instead. They were about 50 peoples, which for the time of the day, was more than usual for an English movie. The price of the ticket went up this week by $0.25. So, it cost $8.00 in the afternoon.

Anyway, like you can read from my title, I was not impressed with I Am Legend. After all, it’s a remake from a classic Charlton Heston movie: The Omega Man that was also a remake.

The movie was slow and with much less action than I expected. Usually, movies of that length don’t spend time on the characters and more on action. But, I did jump a 2-3 times. Will Smith character Robert Neville reminded me at times of the Tom Hanks character in Cast Away. The effects were very good.

Would I recommend the movie? Yes but more on DVD which I’m sure will be longer and unrated.

    The End Of The Journeyman

Posted on December 12th, 2007 in News, TV by Steve McGrath

One of the new series that I liked wasJourneyman”. I like the concept and it followed “Heroes”. So, my Monday night was full with “Chuck” , Heroes and Jouneyman. That’s without counting the other shows I watch on the other channels. I love my PVR and timeshifting(East, West coast channels)

Apparently, the 13 episodes is all I will get from it. Of course, when a show is not available for a week, it does not help a new show to build up a fan base. ;) Is 10pm the right time? Can it go to another channel? The potential is there and NBC should look for alternative.

One last thing: I would not like to be in the same show as the lovely Moon Bloodgood(“Day Break”). She is not lucky with her new shows and I did liked Day Break too.
